The Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585 (5200ft) of ascent.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes:
Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres)
Whernside (736 metres)
Ingleborough (723 metres)
As was predicted and can be seen in the pictures, the weather was truly horrendous on Saturday. But this didn’t stop our hardened team from the training opportunity, as they smashed the route with an extremely respectable 8 hours – well done guys!
The British Heart Foundation (BHF)
15 of Azzure will set off for the National 3 Peak challenge on Saturday 22nd June, in aid and support of BHF.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying fromheart and circulatory disease in the UK, but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It’s only thanks to support from donations that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. Just 24pounds could pay for 2 hours of research, by an early career scientist.
The 15 of Azzure will set off for the National T3 Peak challenge on Saturday 22nd June. On the fundraising front we’ve reached over the £1,000 mark, but well short of our £3,000 target. So if you can skip your lunch-time coffee and donate the money instead, it will be greatly received – every pound counts!
